Read the book!

Yes we’ve all heard it, possibly yelled at us after saying something about a movie adaptation…

There are some movies that are good recreation of the books, they don’t have everything but their ok.
There are some that I think only keep the title, for example:

Fantastic Mr Fox
-There are no words. No words. He has 4 children for a start, the plot is completely different, no there is no shopping centre. Also everyone loves Mr Fox, and he’s a good guy, ugh. This movie is unwatchable.

Deltora Quest
-The tv series was a disappointment - Grey guard uniforms aren’t pink Jasmine! And your hair is supposed to be black! Also witch lady you died in book 2! Stay dead please!

We understand that the book has more space for explanations and scenes than the movie but still. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows had 2 3 hour long films and that still wasn’t enough. To be honest we’d probably sit through a 7 hour Harry Potter movie if it had every detail from the books, we are just that desperate for more Harry Potter. All in favour of a marauders tv series?

So this is just to explain why after seeing what you think is a decent movie, why you then see your book loving friend having a meltdown in the corner XD

Naming Characters

Wow, I am bad at this!

Naming characters can be hard at times or incredibly easy. Sometimes you wake up in the morning and BOOM! you have this flash of inspiration and there is this character in your head; you know their name, look, motivation and even what their style of talking sounds like. Other times you have the vaguest idea that you want to write a story set in Victorian London and... what next? What is their name? are they Male? Female? Alien?

If you are just writing for a bit of fun, get some dice and roll for race! However, if you know your character backwards and forwards but still do not know what name suits them best? That's where the internet comes in handy...

Here are my top 5 random name generator websites:

  1. http://www.behindthename.com/random/  This website includes ethnicity as well as options for mythology and fantasy to narrow your search down a bit. It does however require you to provide a last name.
  2. http://fantasynamegenerators.com/ This website is actually more of a gateway to over 700 different name generators, be it for games, fan-fiction, Original Characters, or even babies.
  3. http://oobleck.org/steam/ Okay, this is a steam-punk/Victorian name generator which is awesome in general (It also includes titles for the aristocracy and scientists etc).
  4. http://www.mithrilandmages.com/utilities/CityNames.php City names? Town names? Shop names? This website has it all, and is completely randomized.
  5. http://random-name-generator.info/random/?n=10&g=1&st=3 This is a generic, simple website that creates names based on rarity and gender. That's it but sometimes simplest is best.

These websites are for those who have no idea where to start when it comes to naming; whether it be characters or future children or both. Have fun with your OCs!

Adios! xox

Icarus and the Sun

A story told through pictures that will make you feel the feels...

If you aren't familiar with the story of Icarus, his father built himself and his son wings out of feathers and wax the escape King Minos who trapped him in a labyrinth. His father told him that if he flew to close to the water then the feathers would get soggy, or if he flew too close to the sun the wax would melt. Icarus, caught in his excitement, flew too close to the sun and drowned.

I love greek mythology if you haven't guessed...

The artist Picolo-kun uploaded 'Melt my Heart' last year, not realising these characters would become a fan favourite!

"Inspired by Icarus, who dared to fly too near the sun on wings of feathers and wax. If he was in love with the sun, then this might as well be a story of forbidden love.
Revisiting these two characters of mine, hope you guys like it ^o^. This was a very experimental piece, I'm not used with a lot of stuff I tried to pull off here but I think it will eventually get better! There's a hidden black kitty there as usual." ~ Picolo-kun

There is now an entire folder dedicated to Icarus and the Sun.

Awww! So cute!
But you know what happens when you fly too close to the sun...

She did warn him though...

It's so sad and so beautiful! They love each other but can't be together because it causes too much pain. There are a lot more where this all came from, though. Picolo-kun also posts his art on Instagram.

Coffee is needed.

It is way too early for this!

Yes, 9am is too early for anyone. We should go back to getting up at midday having evening classes!!! I want caffeine. I recognize that getting up at 7 isn't exactly early for quite a lot of people but, my brain doesn't start working till at least 11. So today's obsession with caffeine leads to...

COFFEE ART!

Needless to say, all this just makes me crave that sweet caffeine.

Baristas can be really artistic and imaginative at times, I particularly like the rendition of Walter White from Breaking Bad, and the Totoro cup.

I've spent the last 2 hours sitting in a class and all I can think about is either finding somewhere quiet to sleep or finding a cafe! Luckily I'm getting a free coffee today, yay for that!

Disneybound

For your inner Disney princess...

Disneybound is when Disney fans compile and wear outfits inspired by their favourite Disney characters.

The term was first coined by Leslie Kay who runs her Disneybound blog here.

I first found Disneybound on pinterest, my first board was Disneybound/Disney fashion.

Better start planning my outfits for Disneyland!

Tattoos

Scandalous! I have a tattoo.

I got my tattoo after years of thinking about what I wanted to start with, however the day I got it was not planed. No, my friend and I were going swimming that day and we ended up at the beach, and we just decided to walk into a tattoo studio and get our first tattoos together. Half spur of the moment, half planned.

It's a small paw print on my foot that I'm planning on extending eventually with Celtic knot work. I decided on the foot because I figured it was an easy spot to cover up in any setting. No regrets. This photo was taken the day I had it done, it is now fully healed.

Tattoos are art, yes, but there are many different styles of them, ranging from watercolour to tribal to even hyper realistic. Even henna tattoos are a style of tattoo, much more traditional than what a lot of people choose to get.

Cover-ups, sleeves, massive pieces that take hours to complete. Tattoos can be incredibly painful but those who choose to get them know that. Pretty sweet don't you think?

Expensive too... But the main thing is, if you want a tattoo that is your business, if you don't like tattoos; Do Not Get One, it's very simple.

"Get one with meaning!" - A smarter friend of mine...

Easter: a time of chocolate and fabric?

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!!!

Friday:
No school - Yay!
I had a cosplay meet today which was a ton of fun. Me and my friend Cassie had some photos taken and then got some sushi with some other cosplayers.

Saturday:
Homework day - Religion essay and English assignment.
I also wrote an AU for Miraculous Ladybug which can be found here: http://tabbyinwonderlandcosplay.tumblr.com/post/141760949391/genie-au-adrien-is-the-prince-of-miracula-but-ran

Sunday:
I basically watched stand up shows on Netflix.

Hello Kitty Flanagan
My rating: 3/5 Stars

Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy
My rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Iliza Shlesinger: Freezing Hot
My rating: 6/5 Stars

I also watched Power Rangers SPD Emergency.
My mum:"You realise that's for 12 year old boys"
Me: ... "You realise it's a good show so I don't care"

Monday:
So my family all live in Europe which means I don't see my family at Easter. I do have a relative in Australia and I helped her sort out her sewing room (real eastery I know), but she basically gave me some fabric...so a snipet of this, a scrap of that, a roll of this and a 50m roll of orange suede!
I have no idea what I'm going to do with it...

Happy Easter!

Yes it is that time of year.

The time of year where we all give each other tonnes of chocolate and make ourselves sick by eating too much... or is that just me? Pretty stupid considering I'm allergic to milk chocolate!
"WHAT??! How can you be allergic????" Everyone always asks me, the answer is because I freaking am? I can only eat dark chocolate, which in the long run is healthier anyway and is still chocolate. I am not complaining!

It being Easter Monday got me thinking... Why don't we celebrate this in the spring of the southern hemisphere? Traditionally Easter is to celebrate the "Resurrection of Christ" and even older than that it was to celebrate the fertility of the land during Pagan rituals, so naturally it should be celebrated when the flowers begin to bloom again, not when the weather starts getting colder. Not to mention, now it is mostly become a holiday where shops can sell you insane amounts of chocolate and is highly commercialized... (hey we call it personal Mondays for a reason right?) Anyway, that is just my opinion on a confusing holiday, all honesty we should be celebrating Halloween....

This weekend I took a small road trip with my boyfriend to some scenic places in the Adelaide hills. We went to the whispering wall and took a little walk around, had some mediocre ice-cream and watched tourists be amazed at the acoustic qualities of a very impressive piece of engineering.

I listened to parents, children, and lovers whisper to each other from 500ft away in perfect clarity. There were fish, turtles, and waterbirds in the water. It was a very calming place, despite the sick feeling in my stomach from having to travel for so long... and getting lost because of google maps wanting us to drive into a protected reserve, through a locked gate...

Talk about more stress than there needed to be!

Stay Safe! xox

When you wish...

UPON A MEME!

haha yes that is right! My favourite Disney memes tonight because I'm bored and wanted a good laugh. Keep reading though, cause I have a secret to tell at the end of this post...
When I went to Japan in 2014 with my school we spent a day in Disney World.Picture this; 13 teenagers up at the crack of dawn to go to the park where dreams come true. I met Peter Pan there, so adorable... Anyway, The entire trip from our hotel did not contain conversation, no, it contained the words "Didney Worl" said in various tones much to the disapproval and annoyance of our teachers. Still funny.

Lets throw some "sudden clarity Clarence" up in this.

How about an "all the things!" meme?
I like to think this one originated from one of my favourite authors, John Green, but I don't know for sure...

And finally grumpy cat because nawwwwwwwwww so majestic.

And now for my secret... Though I love The Lion King, my all time favourite disney character of all time is... Esmerelda the gypsy.

Have fun! xox
