Girl Rex Door

First, a quick apology; I have lost all the notes on my mac and lost all my blog post ideas. which is why I have been a bit inconsistent lately.

Yesterday Taz and I had a writing group discussion with George Rex Comics...
(Georgina Chaddington)

We learnt about comics and writing for comics.

Something she repeated was that comic was a style, not a genre - comics are sequential pictures that tell a story.
Comics cover everything from graphic novels to manga.

She had this amazing sketchbook/journal that was filled with pictures and notes - it was like something you see on an aesthetic post on tumblr. She also showed us her sketch book and some of her comics.

Oh and did I mention that she's from our little city of Adelaide?
She is a self-publishing author but has also been published in anthologies and magazines. Most of her comics are auto bio.

GirlRexDoor is currently working on her first graphic novel about growing up with a brother with autism.

She let us look at a bunch of her comics and comics she liked. She also told us a funny story about her partner (also a comic maker) who spilt ink on a page and put it in the microwave, setting it on fire!
