90s WEEK!

My local library is AWESOME

It is 90s week at my local library and in honor of the occasion, we are going to look at typical 90s fashions I may or may not have missed out on being born in 1996. Apparently some of these are coming back? Lets see the damage...

BUTTERFLY CLIPS?

Even though I have always had a lot of hair, my hair is quite fine so these used to slip out of my hair unless my mum put them in for me, even then I preferred bobby pins. At least bobby pins did not break in my hair when I attempted to put more hair than I should in them!

From Lizzie Maguire to the Olsen twins, colourful butterfly clips in the hair was so fashionable if you were the "girly girl"... which I was in all honesty. I didn't start my vague tomboy phase until I was about ten.

GRUNGE!

Doc Martin's or ankle boots, a berry lip for the girls (or guys, you do you) and maybe throw in some plaid and a smoky almost panda eye? Boom, you have grunge fashion.

Even though the word "Grunge" sound's like something you would scrape off the floor of a public bathroom at 4am, the look itself is pretty cool incorporating band shirts, androgynous looks and prints. It's such an awesome mix'n'match that works.

SCRUNCHIES?!

BRING BACK SCRUNCHIES! wait... what? They already have? Awesome! Although scrunchies have a hard time keeping my hair up I absolutely love the messy look that comes along with them.

Phoebe from Friends rocked this look then and now scrunchies are all over instagram on gorgeous girls with very long hair. Good work ladies, not only are you adorable but scrunchies are actually gentler on your hair! YAY for healthy hair, am I right?

These are just three of the trends I have witnessed coming back but things like accent braids, chokers, army boots and berry lips are definitely back now. Mostly I am not even mad, but some things should probably stay in the past... like Gel Sandals.

Have fun with that! xox

Mermaid Couture

What's up with Ariel?
Why be human when you can be a mermaid...oh wait pollution, global warming...

I don't know of a way to actually become a mermaid but you could still look like one!

Colour Pallet
First you need to work out your colour pallet , do you wanna be Ariel? Or Aquamarine? Or the H2O trio?
Do you wanna be the colour of oceans or sunsets? A clown fish or an angel fish? Good or Evil?

Makeup
So we know waterproof mascara is a must!
Using a wig cap and eyeshadow you can create those scales!
Remember to stick to your colour pallet!
A bold lip goes well with that bright hair!
Decorate with pearls and glitter!
Add gills, shells, starfish or symbols - make your mermaid your own design!

Hair
Time for some colourful hair! Mermaids are colourful so stay away from greys or dirty colours! If your evil try dark greens and blues, black or dark brunettes. If you're a pastel mermaid try pinks, mints, baby purples. f your brighter colours like greens and red try red or blonde or more. If your feeling adventurous go with multiple colours! Your hair must compliment your scales/tail.
Mermaids usually leave their long hair down but you can add braids or fishtail braids!
Decorate your hair with glitter, beads and underwater accessories!

no words.

It is 11:46pm and I have no words

No words to describe the feeling I have right now, no words but I understand. I understand this feeling yet it has no description; not quite numb and not quite nothing. I did nothing this weekend once again, I only slept and worked.

Welcome to the young adult life Tabby! We go about our business, pretending nothing is wrong and feeling horrid inside most of the time. We live for the bright days, and some of us even have faith that the feeling goes away eventually, or at least subsides. I've been thinking about doing a depression post for a while now. To put my thoughts down, ironic considering the title, can be difficult so perhaps I'll start with the facts and see how I go...

According to the World Health Organisation an estimated 350 million people worldwide have a form of depression. Only a fraction of these people actually pursue help, whether it is medically or therapy. According to BeyondBlue it affects on average 1 in 6 people, more commonly in women. I wonder why that is.

My depression I do not know the cause of, it could be a number of things. However, I am trying to get through it and I am getting help which is what I would suggest to anyone who feels numb or tired with life (I'm not talking physical tiredness, although that can be a symptom too) or even if your emotions are just getting too much and too intense, seek help. Never self diagnose and Do Not Label yourself, if you suspect you are having a worse time than you really need to, seek help from your local GP or family doctor.

Birthday from hell

I am officially an adult...

My friend thinks we've abandoned her because she dropped out of school and spends all day sleeping. We're all busy with work, after school activities, sport, club activities, etc, etc and she complains we don't speak to her or invite her to go out shopping. We don't have time to go shopping, we also can't afford it. She doesn't bother messaging us but then complains that we don't? She is now threatening suicide and I want to scream.

I've enrolled to vote.

I got $4 necklace from my aunty that she thought looked 'cheap and nasty'. I don't care about price but would have liked a bit more thought put into it. My family's not close, tbh I'm lucky I got anything. It's hard to see my friends spend their birthdays with their familys when mine is so distant, that I don't even get a phone call.
My dad missed my birthday...again... He works in the middle of the ocean and doesn't get phone or wifi. I know he loves me, but I miss him.

I should feel happy, so why do I want to cry?

Today I smiled. When I got into class my friend spelled out 'HAPPY 18TH ABI' in cupcakes she made (they were amazing!)

On the weekend I went out with a few friends and they really helped pull me out of a funk. I don't get to see them much because of school and commitments but they light up my life <3

Can't wait to see Taz this weekend, I really need a hug.
Also I finished my English essay running on a couple glasses of wine so lets hope it makes sense XD

R + L = J?

A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE!

Shut the tab now if you are't up to date on the show Game of Thrones on HBO, none of what I say applies specifically to the books because they have deviated so far now I am beginning to view the show as a stand alone series. Read further for SPOILERS

With many characters and even more unpronounceable/forgetful names, Game of Thrones is one of my all time favourite TV shows. Blatant nudity and swearing coupled with dragons, magic and a threat of what is basically a zombie invasion (see Wights) makes this show, not only memorable but also a rollercoaster ride of emotions. You get attached to characters and more often than not, those characters meet their untimely death in a horrific fashion. Personally, the latest episode was almost too much, even though it was probably the least horrific death in the entire series, it was filmed in such a way that I was actually repulsed. "Oathbreaker" had me on the edge of my seat, practically yelling at the screen!

With that out of the way, let's talk one of the show's favourite characters: Jon Snow

Jon Snow, bastard turned Night's Watch Lord Commander, had been murdered and brought back to life. He has now left the Night's Watch and we are interested to see where he goes next... But that isn't what I want to talk about. His future will be shown, but his past? That has been hidden to viewers since the beginning.

R + L = J

A theory that EVERY GoT fan knows. The origins of Jon Snow have not been revealed however in season 6 we are getting little hints and teasers about his past. I personally do not believe even in the middle of war Eddard Stark would have cheated on his wife. His biggest character trait is honor! SO where did Jon come from?

Rheagar Targaryan + Lyanna Stark = Jon freaking Snow!

This makes him born of ice (stark lineage, Warden's of the North) and fire (Targaryan lineage + dragons), which is another set of prophecies I do not want to explore right now. However, it also makes him descendant of two royal bloodlines, and would be Rheagar's only surviving child. To make the theory even more likely is that Rheagar fell in love with Lyanna and kidnapped her (while he had a wife and two children mind...) she is later found in a bed scattered with her own blood by her brother Eddard and her last words are "promise me, Ned" to look after the child perhaps? Not Ned Stark's bastard son, but rather... His nephew!

DUN Dun duun! xox

Fairy Tail World

Rboz
One of my most favourite anime ever is Fairy Tail, it was one of the first anime I watched religiously...

Fairy Tail revolves around Lucy, a 17 year old wizard who meets Natsu, a powerful teen wizard who takes her to Fairy Tail.

Favourite Character: Levy Mcgarden
Levy is so relatable she's smart and sweet. She's adorable and her kindness is boundless. Her magic is awesome; anything she writes materialises (solid script).
Rboz

My ultimate OTP: Gajeel x Levy
They had a bumpy start but these two are a match made in heaven! It reminds me of beauty and the beast - a self hating man who believes their beyond redemption and  a sweet bookworm who sees what's inside. They tease each other and after the one year time skip you can definately tell there's more to their relationship ;)

Favourite fan artists: Rboz & Blanania
I found Blanania on DA one day and instantly fell in love with their art.
Rboz I found on tumblr and I follow all their social media (except Patreon) - I love their art, it souths my soul. I have found myself spending hours searching every inch of their tumblr!
Blanania

Favourite Fanfics: Fairy Tail Fanfics
I did a whole post about this earlier...

Sub or Dub: Sub, but I like the dub too
I watched it in dubbed, then I continued from that point up to the subbed because I couldn't wait for more. Many people have a need to pick dub or sub but with this anime both are good!

Read the manga: Yes
Once again I read from the point the anime ended onward. I have also read the first 10 issues since their the books I own XD

Favourite Magic: Animal Soul
Imagine being able to turn into an animal at will! You could fly, or have claws, or shrink!
Whenever anyone asks what super power I want, I answer shapeshifting!

On May 17th the new Fairy Tail OVA is coming out!

Mirror, Mirror can it be?

A book review I can see!

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine. This book is a really interesting retelling of Snow White. Except Snow White is named Lorelai and is also an Enchantress like the evil queen. Oh and prince charming? He's a King named Kol who can turn into a dragon... the dwarves are dragons too, it's a little complicated unless you read it.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is action packed from the beginning without being monotonous with a hint of danger from Ogres in another part of the kingdom, but that is not the main issue. No... Just don't eat the apples! Seriously, this book takes apples being bad for you to a whole new level! They are rotten and enslave your mind and will to that of the evil queen Irina.

Lately the majority of retellings have made the main female a bit more badass and powerful. This book was released in February of this year and it sticks to the new cliche. Despite this however, it gives a new perspective on the scenario, it's a story of "What if this had happened instead?"

To be honest, I'll be back to freaky fairy-tales next Thursday, unless I've read another awesome book that day. We'll see!

NAP TIME! xox
