Unicorn Fancy Part 2

So a few months ago I made Part 1 of Unicorn Fancy, where I talked mostly about food because who doesn't love food???But time for a bit of style!!!(See Mermaid one here)

Colour Pallet
Rainbow!!! Duh unicorns and rainbows go hand in hand! Or hoof in hoof?
Glitter! Ok glitter isn't a colour, but it adds a little magic don't you think?
Silvers and golds are also right up there because they are rare and beautiful like a majestic unicorn.
Purples and pinks seem popular too...

Make Up
Beautiful colourful eyeshadow, and of coarse body glitter is a must! The horn is optional.
But I'm getting ahead of myself, first you need to pick what kind of unicorn look your going for - rainbow, pastel, dark/goth, ethereal, etc.
Here's some pinterest perfect inspiration:

If you are in the market for a magical horn, you horny bests, then try these etsy stores:

Anyone else a fan of the Nyx Face Awards?
They've had some magical entries!

Hair
Do you want your hair styled like a show pony? French braids and buns?
Or a a wild main blowing in the wind?
Or grab the hairspray we're turning those bangs into a horn!
Or a rainbow??? Get out the manic panic!!!
Maybe a flower crown and (you know where I'm going with this don't you?) GLITTTTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Ears available here

Now unicorn hair isn't just for the ladies as these guys prove...

Clothing

Well you can't go wrong with a unicorn onesie!!!
but if thats not your jam and you want to go outside in not pyjamas then try Tokidoki - I have one of their unicorn shirts and not only is it super comfortable - its super cute!
Hot Topic also sells some super cool unicorn clothes and accessories!
How could I forget Firebox??? Where you can get these hella cute slippers!
Can I also suggest some glittery converse? I lucked out and picked up mine from a thrift store for $17!

And lets review these killer designs from TeeTurtle

My ex gave me the 'I will cut you one' because he thought it 'described me perfectly', pfffft.
When in doubt a quick search on redbubble will reveal plenty of unique designs!

And if you still aren't satisfied may I recommend LookHuman?
I think Taz and I need the drinking team ones XD

Feeling like a unicorn yet? You better because I'm ready for a nap X3

Unicorn Fancy Part 1

This time last year I wrote about mermaids, this year unicorns have taken the world by storm. I mean even Starbucks have gotten on board!!!
How can people drink that stuff????? Don't they know that they'll have a half life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches their lips...
Hehehehehe, you didn't think I'd miss the opportunity for a Harry Potter joke did ya?

Honestly though I really want to try it, I mean just look at it!

Ok so lets get started with some unicorn inspired recipes because why not.

If you'r interested in seeing some cool cake creations like the one to the left then check out The Crumb Canvas, which pretty much sums up their work perfectly, because they are a work of art.

If you don't like in the USA, several copycat recipes of the frappaccino have appeared online.

Recipe 1 | Recipe 2 | Recipe 3

Ok, if you don't believe the hype then how about a unicorn hot chocolate?

And it's pretty easy because it's just white hot chocolate (with a bit of pink food colouring), and of coarse what is hot chocolate without whipped cream and marshmallows? But its the blue icing and rainbow sprinkles that give it that extra kick of magic.
Recipe

But if your drink tastes are a bit more grown up then try these magical cocktails:

Unicorn Blood | Unicorn Tears | Unicorn Kisses

Now what about some unicorn popcorn or rainbow fudge for when you're binge watching Netflix later? You can't fool me because I am watching it right now as I am writing this.

Or perhaps you want the epitome of unicorn snacks, that's right unicorn poop cookies!

Recipe 1 | Recipe 2 | Recipe 3

Or if you're looking for something to impress your friends at your next Mario Cart tournament then some classic cupcakes will do that nicely.

Recipe 1 | Icing unicorn horn and ears tutorial | Recipe 2
It's amazing what you can do with some fondant and edible glitter. The basic rule of thumb is rainbows, glitter and some magic.

Stay tuned for part two which will be a bit more like my mermaid one - hair, make up, clothing. You can bet it'll involve plenty of glitter XD

AVCon 2016

AVCon 2016

So I attended my first ever convention, and yes, it was quite a few days ago now, and no, I am no good at keeping up with updates...

ANYWAY, lets talk about my time at AVCon 2016!

Friday

Had a very nice sleep in actually. I wasn't registered to set up AVCon with the other volunteers so I didn't turn up to the convention centre till around midday and when I got there? MAYHEM! The con had not even begun and the showbags were having problems. I threw on my volunteer shirt and spent the next 3 hours helping to fix things.
Oh well, at least I got to watch the opening ceremony right in front of the stage with new friends. Watch Tabby's AVCon vlog on youtube to watch the dance/fight scene during the tragically short ceremony. As well as everything else that happened that night. An interview with WOLFSTAR is soon to come.

Saturday

WOKE UP LATE! Had to do my eyebrows on the bus, My hair was sticking up so I threw a wig on it, grabbed my labcoat and ran out the door. I was almost late to my first volunteer shift which consisted of... Babysitting. Although technically I was babysitting a room, not the children because their parents were not allowed to leave without them.
CUT FORWARD to me walking down artists alley in the four hours I had left till I had to leave for a birthday dinner and this was the result:

That is my face, yes.
SKINNY MISTER you made me look so cute! (Find him on facebook) I feel kinda bad for wearing a black shirt though, his pen was running out a bit... BUT he was dressed as Tem from UNDERTALE, so awesome!. After that I went to the birthday dinner, slept through most of it and worked on my cosplay untill there were only the finishing touches left.

SUNDAY:

COSPLAY DAYYYYYY!
Started the day late for my shift, whoops I stayed up too late and overslept once again, then I missed my bus so I was half an hour late for a shift I got pulled out of anyway. This turned out to be a blessing because I was thrown into the group that helps out when more people are needed... Then I got to be Pikachu!

That is me, beside a random poketrainer. Seriously though the first thing that happened was a poke ball to the face. Then it was all trying not to walk into small children, dancing around, having people throw their arms around me and eventually, photos were taken. I am scouring the internet to find said photos because I couldn't get ANY!

After leaning down to small children and vehemently saying NUUUU to being captured, I finished my shift and went to go quickly finish my cosplay with the help of a friend in a nearby sandwich shop...
Lets finish this con off with a Yang! ;)

Boom, nuff said.I think I look pretty good, and I am proud of what I managed to accomplish with a certain amount of help in making patterns, gauntlets and the finishing touches. There are some things I would tweak but overall? Solid attempt in my opinion.

Night Guys! xox

Cleaning the makeup off my face.

Sensitive Micellar Water BottleI'm generally a face soap and rinse girl.

However, my mum brought home the NIVEA gentle caring micellar water. A 3 in 1 concoction that is supposed to clean all the makeup off of your face while hydrating, cleansing, and moisturizing your face, which is very important when you've had makeup on it all day (not sponsored, but hey, if NIVEA want to hit me up?)

Basically what you do is pour a small amount onto a cotton ball or pad (very cheap, you can buy packs anywhere) and what I did was rest it on my eye makeup for a couple seconds to let the water permeate the makeup. After that you wipe it away and even waterproof makeup should come away with minimal effort.

This micellar water is free of colours, perfumes or parabens which is great if you have highly sensitive skin. I have read many reviews of the product today and have found that on average it has 4-5 stars by the majority of reviewers, and I can see why.

So, the micellar water got the majority of my makeup off, even the waterproof eyeliner I was wearing. Yes, the cotton pad was disgusting afterwards and it did not remove all of my mascara, but I did pack on a lot (!) of makeup to test this product properly. I even tried it on a long lasting liquid lipstick after it had been on for a couple hours and it was removed no problem. Best part was my face actually felt clean afterwards and I did not have to rinse. My currently dry (due to winter on its way) combination skin loved this product and I will definitely be using it again.

9/10 stars for this product, and I highly recommend.

YAS! xox

BoHo BooYa!

Bohemian Chic? YAS

Natural wood and plants mixed with cool patterns and rustic tones? Very gypsy, very bohemian. Today I will share some of the Pinterest pictures I found that are totally life goals. I love the use of the muted purple, a dusty purple colour that is just gorgeous!

Here we have some basic bohemian fashions that I love. A flowing skirt or dress, some cute shoes and long turquoise necklaces. It's kind of a gypsy vintage look, which just looks very comfy and easy to wear.
All of the natural and neutral colours work really well together, and that handkerchief dress is actually adorable.

And then we have my favourite Home Decor! Basically the more plants and pillows the better! I personally love the throw together look of bohemian home decor, mixing elements from modern and vintage furniture to create a look that is completely unique. So pretty, and very natural when you add the wooden elements!

So awesome and natural. Some people do not like the hippy vibe, but I do. It is very calming.

Sweet dreams lovelies! xox

90s WEEK!

My local library is AWESOME

It is 90s week at my local library and in honor of the occasion, we are going to look at typical 90s fashions I may or may not have missed out on being born in 1996. Apparently some of these are coming back? Lets see the damage...

BUTTERFLY CLIPS?

Even though I have always had a lot of hair, my hair is quite fine so these used to slip out of my hair unless my mum put them in for me, even then I preferred bobby pins. At least bobby pins did not break in my hair when I attempted to put more hair than I should in them!

From Lizzie Maguire to the Olsen twins, colourful butterfly clips in the hair was so fashionable if you were the "girly girl"... which I was in all honesty. I didn't start my vague tomboy phase until I was about ten.

GRUNGE!

Doc Martin's or ankle boots, a berry lip for the girls (or guys, you do you) and maybe throw in some plaid and a smoky almost panda eye? Boom, you have grunge fashion.

Even though the word "Grunge" sound's like something you would scrape off the floor of a public bathroom at 4am, the look itself is pretty cool incorporating band shirts, androgynous looks and prints. It's such an awesome mix'n'match that works.

SCRUNCHIES?!

BRING BACK SCRUNCHIES! wait... what? They already have? Awesome! Although scrunchies have a hard time keeping my hair up I absolutely love the messy look that comes along with them.

Phoebe from Friends rocked this look then and now scrunchies are all over instagram on gorgeous girls with very long hair. Good work ladies, not only are you adorable but scrunchies are actually gentler on your hair! YAY for healthy hair, am I right?

These are just three of the trends I have witnessed coming back but things like accent braids, chokers, army boots and berry lips are definitely back now. Mostly I am not even mad, but some things should probably stay in the past... like Gel Sandals.

Have fun with that! xox

Mermaid Couture

What's up with Ariel?
Why be human when you can be a mermaid...oh wait pollution, global warming...

I don't know of a way to actually become a mermaid but you could still look like one!

Colour Pallet
First you need to work out your colour pallet , do you wanna be Ariel? Or Aquamarine? Or the H2O trio?
Do you wanna be the colour of oceans or sunsets? A clown fish or an angel fish? Good or Evil?

Makeup
So we know waterproof mascara is a must!
Using a wig cap and eyeshadow you can create those scales!
Remember to stick to your colour pallet!
A bold lip goes well with that bright hair!
Decorate with pearls and glitter!
Add gills, shells, starfish or symbols - make your mermaid your own design!

Hair
Time for some colourful hair! Mermaids are colourful so stay away from greys or dirty colours! If your evil try dark greens and blues, black or dark brunettes. If you're a pastel mermaid try pinks, mints, baby purples. f your brighter colours like greens and red try red or blonde or more. If your feeling adventurous go with multiple colours! Your hair must compliment your scales/tail.
Mermaids usually leave their long hair down but you can add braids or fishtail braids!
Decorate your hair with glitter, beads and underwater accessories!
